Temporary Assistance To Needy Families (TANF)
VISION
To assist Nez Perce families in becoming self-sufficient
and responsible for their family and children through gainful employment.
GOALS
The Nez Perce Tribe's TANF Program goal is to emphasize
education, training and to identify employment barriers, so that the
participants can find and maintain employment.
DESCRIPTION OF SERVICE
The applicant or family member must be an enrolled member
of the Nez Perce Tribe. To be eligible for a TANF grant, an individual
must be low income, provide verification requested by the Department, negotiate
and sign an Employability Development Plan (EDP), participate in work activities
based on the (EDP) and meet all other personal responsibility and financial
criteria. A family may receive TANF benefits for up to 60 cumulative
months, but are re-evaluated every 3 months to determine eligibility to the TANF
program. Supportive Services may also be issued to the participant or
directly to the vendor, to enable them to engage in assigned TANF activities
and/or accept and maintain employment.
