Indian Child Welfare
VISION
To ensure the protection and welfare of Indian children
living on the reservation and Nez Perce children, who live off the reservation.
GOALS
To provide and coordinate services to ensure the welfare of
Nez Perce children who have been determined to be wards of the court, both
within the tribal court system as well as state court systems. Family
reunification, education, ensure court compliance, and monitor states'
compliance with the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA).
DESCRIPTION OF SERVICE
To provide child welfare assistance to children who were
determined to be wards of the Tribal court. Provide transportation,
referral, support, supervised visitations, family reunification services, ensure
court compliance, foster care support, and monitoring/support of all children and
involved family members. Work with states to ensure compliance of the
Indian Child Welfare Act; received approximately 8 inquiries per month.
