BIA Welfare Assistance
VISION
To assist eligible clients in becoming self-sufficient
through gainful employment and/or obtaining a more adequate resource to meet
their needs.
GOALS
To promote and increase self-sufficiency. Each
General Assistance (G.A.) Recipient must work with the social services worker to
develop an Individual Self-Sufficiency Plan (ISP). The plan must outline
the specific steps the individual will take to increase independence by meeting
the goal of employment or being approved for other types of financial
assistance, such as SSI.
DESCRIPTION OF SERVICE
Financial assistance provided for basic living expenses to
eligible clients while they are searching for work or apply for other financial
assistance. Referral to employment and educational opportunities.
Referral to other agencies and programs to help meet the needs of the client,
such as counseling, Alcohol education, crisis needs, SSI, TANF, etc.
Application process includes, completed application, verifications such as proof
of enrollment in federally recognized tribe. residence, income, job
registrations and personal interview.
