The Nez Perce Tribe Dept. of Fisheries Resource Management Research Division is recruiting for: FISHERIES TECHNICIAN II HR-12-104 regular full-time position located in Joseph, OR. Responsible for assigned duties relating to assistance in the collection, compilation, technical applications of field work that pertain to fisheries and other natural resources. Duties include operating and maintaining adult steelhead and Chinook traps, handling fish, marking fish, identifying and tagging fish, entering field data into a computer database, maintaining field sites and equipment, and other related duties as assigned. Performs adult spawning ground and carcass surveys in Northeast Oregon. Must be mechanically inclined and have good computer skills with word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Excellent writing and oral communication skill are required. Must be highly motivated and have the ability to work independently and cooperatively with others. Requirements include two (2) years of college education (48 credits) in Fisheries or closely related field, one (1) year related experience (will accept B.S. degree in lieu of experience), and six (6) months supervisory experience. The Education Dept./TERO program is recruiting for: COMPLIANCE OFFICER HR-12-106 regular full-time. Will assist the TERO Director in negotiation of Tribal Employment Rights Office (TERO) agreements, enforcement of Indian preference laws, conduct intake charge processing and to investigate charges of racial discrimination in employment on the Nez Perce Reservation. In addition to these general duties, the position will entail working with the certification of Indian Owned Businesses and requires knowledge of Tribal Apprenticeship Standards and implementation of all facets of Indian preference enforcement. Requires high school diploma or GED. Three (3) years of TERO Compliance Officer work experience is a minimum mandatory requirement. Knowledge of construction, employment training and business law is desired. EEOC charge processing demonstrated work experience is required. Indian Business Certification application assistance work experience is required. Apprenticeship and Training Standards development and implementation work experience is preferred. Extensive knowledge of the Nez Perce Reservation and it’s surrounding geographical area’s is a must. Demonstrated work experience with surrounding communities including townships, state, federal and private entities are needed. Three (3) years in TERO required; requires three (3) years in the construction industry in any occupation. Requires a valid driver’s license with the ability to be insured under the Tribe’s policy. Requires a Law (Juris Doctor) degree. Assist with the monitoring & evaluation activities associated with the Lower Snake River Compensation Program and the Nez Perce Tribal Hatchery and Research Department consolidated analysis needs. The position is stationed in Lapwai, Idaho and requires a B.S Degree in Fisheries Research or closely related field. Related field and/or course work requirements defined in job expectations. The Nez Perce Tribe Dept. of Fisheries Resource Management Research Division is recruiting for: PROFESSIONAL III/PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR II HR-11-161 regular full-time position located in Joseph, OR. Will lead project development and oversight of new hatchery facilities and the ongoing Lostine Spring Chinook Supplementation project. Responsibilities include construction planning, permitting, and management, hatchery facility operation and maintenance, fish culture of spring Chinook salmon from adult trapping to juvenile release, budget oversight, data collection and summarization, report writing, and employee supervision. Requires a Bachelor of Science degree (Master’s preferred). In addition, three (3) years of fish culture experience at the management level and minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience is required. Nez Perce National Historical Park seeks qualified student applicants for two WG-3 maintenance laborer positions at Spalding and Kamiah this summer, under the Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP). STEP enables us to hire candidates enrolled in an accredited educational institution, at senior high school, trade school, or college levels. It is the only authority under which the park can directly recruit and non-competitively employ Nez Perce tribal members. The positions pay about $14.30/hour. Duties involve custodial and outdoor maintenance activities, i.e. cleaning, mowing, painting, trimming, litter pick up, raking, watering, loading/unloading, carrying/hauling, and using common hand and power tools. Laborers work under the direction of fulltime park personnel, but they will also be expected to work independently on assigned tasks at Spalding, Orofino, White Bird, Weippe, Buffalo Eddy, and East Kamiah. Qualifications are proof of school enrollment in fall 2012; a valid drivers license; ability to perform the duties of the position; and willingness to contribute as part of a team. College, vo-tech, and older high school students (preferably seniors) are encouraged to apply. Our goals are to address park maintenance needs, and offer National Park Service work experience to tribal members, as may spark interest in subsequent park employment opportunities. State of Idaho Parks & Recreation is recruiting for Seasonal Employment.  Why spend the summer indoors when you can work outside in a beautiful state park? Idaho State Parks offers a variety of seasonal employment opportunities. Seasonal employees are an important part of the park staff, helping to make the park an invit-ing destination and a pleasant place to stay. There are a wide variety of tasks to perform; maintenance duties to include building and grounds maintenance, general cleaning, minor repair, mowing, trimming and irrigation. As a seasonal employee, you may find yourself working on interpretive programs and public rela-tions which involves developing and presenting campground programs, junior ranger pro-grams, guided hikes, and camp fire talks. Working at the entrance station of a park taking money or answering questions may fill your day. Work hours vary from park to park and job to job. Often, both seasonal staff and regular park employees work weekends and holidays, when the parks are busiest.

TYPES of JOBS a seasonal employee might perform

Building and Grounds Maintenance General cleaning of visitor center and office facilities; daily cleaning of public rest rooms, washing windows, vacuuming, dusting, and scrubbing floors; collecting and disposing of garbage and litter; minor repair of facilities and equipment; lawn mowing, trimming and irrigation.

Public Relations Greeting visitors; maintaining park publication inventory and displays; re-sponding to information requests from management, staff and visitors; providing information in person and via email, phone, and fax.

Retail Maintaining retail displays of resale inventory, ordering replacement inventory, oper-ating a cash register and making change for item sales; handling money including balancing and closing cash register; completing sales transmittals and making bank deposits.

Clerical Keeping required records and files, preparing correspondence and reports, or filing and compiling data for reports as directed.

Interpretive Program Presenting outdoor campfire programs and Junior Ranger programs for children. In addition you may be building wayside exhibits and interpretive signing, interior interpretive exhibits at park visitor centers, or producing brochures, and trail guides.

 Resource Management Inventorying and monitoring plants and wildlife, treating noxious weeds, serving on a wildfire suppression crew, repairing fences, working on trails and restor-ing disturbed landscapes.

Marina Duties Fueling Boats and providing other assistance to boaters.

Length of employment: The length of employment differs among the parks, but typically lasts 15 weeks from the latter part of May to the first part of September. However, there are jobs that begin as early as March and may last into November. Because the need varies, return to school needs and travel schedules can often be taken into consideration. Requirements: You should be able to perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning rest rooms, operate a variety of equipment, follow written and oral instructions, perform mod-erately heavy labor, work under adverse weather conditions, and deal appropriately and tact-fully with others. Some positions require a valid drivers license, standard First-Aid and CPR certifications. You may also be required to wear a uniform.
