Nez Perce Arts Council Biography

Sarah Penney, (Nez Perce), Member, is a contemporary visual artist who has been commissioned as a muralist and graphic illustrator. Penney is self taught. By profession, Ms. Penney is an educator, currently recruiting perspective minorities to enter into a masters program at the University of Idaho in the Education Department to become teachers for the state of Idaho. Penney’s most acclaimed project to date is a set of fifteen historical murals set in the eighteenth century about the Nez Perce Tribe. This temporary exhibit, “Since Time Immemorial: The Nez Perce,” is on view at Lapwai High School, Lapwai, Idaho.
