Nez Perce Arts Council Biography

Helen Goodteacher, (Nez Perce), Member, works in the department of Water Resources for the Nez Perce Tribe as a Communication Specialist. Helen’s education is Communications and Video Production. Her artistic enthusiasm is in desktop publishing, painting and sees herself as a videographer and writer. She enjoys all art forms and is willing to learn. Most recently Helen has worked on logo and web design and has a desire to get back into writing. She has a passion for environmental education and awareness for tribal people. She has gotten to work with tribes from all over the Northwest on environmental issues. One of her focuses is to incorporate youth in environmental awareness and to show how our culture ties into our everyday life. She would like to see more artwork that ties to our natural resources and preserve those traditional materials needed for tribal arts. Overall, she would like to make films/documentaries that tell modern day stories about Indian life and our ever changing natural resources and environment.
