Nez Perce Arts Council Biography
Allen Pinkham Jr.
is a enrolled member of the Nez Perce Tribe of Idaho. Allen is a master beadworker and
he has also created a line of drum sticks, which has become a full-time job to
fulfill the orders across the country. He has made about 10,000 drumsticks
that are utilized for pow-wows, for hand drum ceremonial use, and smaller
variations for children and as souvenirs.
The Allen Pinkham Jr. collection includes one hand drum size drum stick in the
coastal color design, a popular ocean blue coastal necklace, Al's design of a
Plateau huckleberry basket hair barrette, and a collector button of beadwork by
Allen which features President Barrack Obama wearing a war bonnet, which Allen
has named, "Commander in Chief."
